Sobros Covers
I'm listening to "The History of T. Rex" today and the song "Jeepster" came on. This triggered a memory of seeing the the Something Brothers cover this song at least a few times.
A couple other covers I remember:
Why Don't We Do It In The Road
Happiness is a Warm Gun (we use to scream for this to the point I know they got sick of it)
You got any?

freebird at locomotives...skot fucked up the lyrics!
seems like the only cover i heard them do was "mama told me not to come" at locomotives ... wish i had it, or any live so bros, but don't, sorry
I saw them do "mama told me not to come" at cicero's in st. louis. It was a song that was well suited to them as a band.
I also saw them do "jeepster", "happiness" & "freebird".
Offhand, the only other cover i can recall them doing was "what's new pussycat" by tom jones. Dean did the lead vocal on that one & it was a great showcase for him.
The story i was told (probably by tommy) about freebird was that they got so annoyed by people jokingly yelling out FREEBIRD at shows, that they actually learned the song & just sat on it...waiting for the next time some jackass yelled that out. When someone inevitably did, they started playing it and blew everyone's minds. I was actually there for this. It was at the Gallery in Normal, IL. It was a great SoBros moment.
They used to play"Yakety Yak" at every show but later it ecame pretty rare. "Freebird" was a joke because Thad wouldn't stop yelling for it. At the Gallery show, Tommy was feeding the lyrics to Skot as they went along. I don't clearly remember the Locos show but I think they also played it at either Stickman's or RIBCo.
What's New Pussycat was my favorite cover & was hoping to find it here. Nonetheless, great to find this stuff and to pass it along to my daughter.
we always did a lame version of "mr. moonlight" to kill time durring a string break.
alley oop by the hollywood argyles
cracklin' rosie by niel diamond
heard it on the "x" by zz top
clay sang the beatles "why don't we do it in the road"
cathy's clown by the everly brothers
those come to mind off the top'o'my head...i know there were many others, just not right up front in the memory banks.
we were thinking of attacking "halo of flies" by the alice cooper group towards the end, but never got around to it. that would have been killer !
